About Amrit Science Campus
Amrit Campus was named after the late Mr. Amrit Prasad Pradhan and was formerly known as Public Science College (PUSCOL) before being renamed Amrit Science College (ASCOL). Mr Pradhan was born in Thamel, Kathmandu, in 1918. He was the headmaster of Jooddha High School in Birgunj for two years before joining Tri-Chandra College as a Chemistry instructor. In 1962, he became the founding Principal of Public Science College (now Amrit Campus) and began teaching as a Chemistry professor.
Late Principal Amrit Prasad Pradhan founded Amrit Campus to promote science and technology education in Nepal. His entrepreneurial energy, devotion, and excitement have immensely benefitted the university. On January 24, 1966, he perished in an aviation collision over Mt. Blanc while on a mission for a college-related cause in the United States. The country lamented the demise of this beautiful spirit.
