About Nepal Engineering College (NEC)
The Nepal Engineering College, also known as NEC is one of the top engineering colleges in Nepal. It was founded in 1994 as a social academic institution on the initiative of seven philanthropists. Visionary Nepalese academics and professionals built NEC from the ground up. They understood the need for a center for engineering and technology education to support economic development, reach more Nepalese students, and make high-quality technical education available and affordable to everyone.
NEC is properly registered with the District Administration Office in Bhaktapur as a non-profit social institute. In later years, a number of engineering colleges in the nation’s private sector were established as a result of NEC’s pioneering example. In order to continue setting an example for others to follow, NEC is dedicated to upholding its well-deserved status as “an institution with concerns for quality education and academic freedom”.
Since its founding, the college has been actively involved in developing, modernizing, and establishing academic curricula as well as providing undergraduate and graduate-level courses in engineering, technology, and related fields. In the days to come, NEC plans to keep up with this program and provide more creative and practical courses in both established and developing fields.
Initially, with few physical and educational resources, NEC has developed into a reputable institution with learning resources on pace with any in the nation and the area. The physical facilities and educational resources, situated on 210 acres (10.69 hectares) of land in Bhaktapur’s Changunarayan Municipality, offer a natural setting and an excellent learning environment.
Currently, NEC provides master’s degree programs in addition to Bachelor’s and Civil Diploma holder-level courses. All of the undergraduate courses are currently in session at the main Changunarayan campus, and the graduate programs are being offered at the new Center for Postgraduate Studies in Prayag Pokhari, Lalitpur. At Satdobato in Lalitpur, a B.E. Civil for Diploma Holders (nec-BDH) course is offered.
Vision
The goal of NEC is to continue to engage in instruction, research, and outreach as three interconnected parts of the institution in order to become a center of higher learning that excels in academics.
