MS Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery

Method of Training:

1. The post graduate student will go through four years of full time residential training.
2. Postgraduate residents will be encouraged to become self-directed learners. Teachers. Preceptors will function as guide only.
3. Postgraduate resident will be the first person on duty in Unit/dept. twice a week.
4. Private practice is not permitted.
5. Take responsibility in OPD & inpatients as full time resident.
6. Take primary responsibility for the investigation and pre and post operative care.
7. Regularly assist in major surgical operations and gradually move from minor to major operations under supervision.
8. They will actively participate in all departmental and unit academic activities.
9. Guidance will provided in basic science subjects by the teachers of basic science departments of Institute of Medicine and designated preceptor and teacher in related subject. One preceptor will take only one PG student in one year.

The academic activities will be as follows:

1. Demonstrations & guidance in basic science, (Clinical epidemiology and medical ethics First Year
2. Presentation of assigned topic Once a week
3. Journal club Once a week
4. Group discussions Once a week
5. Beside clinical teaching Twice a week
6. Clinico-pathological conference Once a week
7. Radiological demonstration Once a week
