Khwopa Engineering College (KhEC), a Bhaktapur Municipality initiative, is Nepal’s first community-based engineering college. KhEC was founded in 2001 A.D. (2058 B.S.) in collaboration with Nepal’s prestigious Purbanchal University. It was founded with the goal of making Bhaktapur a center of excellence, intellectualizing the entire society via engineering knowledge.
The college’s mission is to provide the nation’s engineers and architects with solid theoretical and practical knowledge, competence, and skill. It is committed to offering high-quality education at a low cost to people from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
KhEC began offering bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering (4 years) and architecture (5 years) in 2001, computer engineering in 2002, and electronics and communication engineering in 2003. As a result, beginning in 2005, it offered an ME in Earthquake Engineering and an MSc in Urban Design and Conservation.
KhEC is well-driven forward by prudent administration, professional and motivated academic faculty, solid physical and academic facilities, and strong community support. The aims are well manifested through regular lessons, in-depth practical tasks, field studies, trips, report writing, and internal tests, all of which are carefully managed and are recipes for each student’s success.
Khwopa Engineering College’s (KhEC) vision is to create Bhaktapur as a Center of Academic Excellence and to intellectualize society via engineering expertise.
With the long-term goal of preserving Bhaktapur’s hard-won glory, KhEC provides a great environment for students and scholars to generate globally competitive engineering and architectural talent. Each student will be mentored not just in academics but also in service to the nation and people. Through research initiatives, they are going forward with our aim of merging indigenous engineering expertise with modern-day technologies.
They believe that by connecting education and production labor, they can generate actual output. It will provide a superior academic experience for students and scholars by integrating teaching, research, and service. KhEC provides quality education at a reasonable cost to persons from the economically disadvantaged strata of society.
