The Nepal Government has announced a sweeping ban on popular social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp after they failed to register locally. Despite repeated notices urging companies to complete their registration, most global platforms did not comply, leading to the nationwide restriction.

This means that widely used apps like Messenger, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Reddit, Discord, Pinterest, Signal, WeChat, Threads, Quora, and Hamro Patro are also now inaccessible in Nepal. Internet providers are in the process of enforcing the ban, which is expected to take a few more hours to fully implement.
