The course is designed to equip students with specialized knowledge in computer systems and knowledge engineering, particularly from the perspective of hardware and software development. It focuses on the design, development, and programming of computer systems, with a strong emphasis on embedded hardware and distributed software systems.
Knowledge engineering, a key component of the program, involves embedding human expertise into computer systems to solve complex problems. It primarily deals with building, maintaining, and advancing knowledge-based systems. This field encompasses areas such as artificial intelligence, databases, data mining, expert systems, decision support systems, and information systems. Additionally, knowledge engineering is closely connected to mathematical logic and is deeply integrated with cognitive science and socio-cognitive engineering, where knowledge is shaped by collective human reasoning and structured based on our understanding of how logic and thought processes function.
