Central Department of History | Tribhuvan University

One of Tribhuvan University's (TU) constituent academic departments is the Central Department of History (CDH), which is situated on the university campus in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. The department was founded in 1959, and its first graduate-level courses started in 1960. It is a part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and has contributed significantly to the growth of historical study and scholarship in Nepal.

M.A. and M.Phil./PhD programs in history are among the academic programs offered by the department. Ancient, mediaeval, and contemporary history, Nepalese history, international, diplomatic, military, and regional histories of South Asia, East Asia, Europe, and the United States are all included in its study topics. In order to facilitate teaching and research, the department also keeps an archive of historical manuscripts and a history library.
