Candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible for admission:
Hold a B.Sc. degree in Geology from Tribhuvan University or from another recognized institution deemed equivalent.
Have completed the prescribed geological field training during their B.Sc. program.
The candidates who have passed the B.Sc. course in Geology from Tribhuvan University or the B.Sc. course in Geology from any other equivalent universities or institutions shall be considered eligible for admission to the M.Sc. course in Geology. They should have also attended the prescribed geological field training at the B.Sc. level.
One of Tribhuvan University's (TU) core academic departments within the Institute of Science and Technology (IoST) is the Central Department of Geology (CDG). The department was officially founded in 1986 and is situated on the University Campus in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. The Department of Geology at Tri-Chandra College was founded in 1968, and the MSc in Geology was first offered at TU in 1976.
Through significant fieldwork and laboratory work, the department offers advanced geology study and practical training. In order to prepare graduates for professions and research in fields including geological inquiry, mining, hydrogeology, infrastructure development, environmental studies, and engineering projects, it currently provides MSc in Geology and MSc in Engineering Geology.
