Nepal Sanskrit University (formerly Mahendra Sanskrit University) was formally founded on the 25th of Mangsir, 2043 B.S. (December 10, 1986) in Beljhundi, Dang, with the goals of ensuring that Sanskrit education is available to everyone in Nepal and of advancing the spiritual values and ideals found in Sanskrit literature in line with the demands of the day.
