The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a two-day public holiday on Ashoj 19 and 20 (October 5 and 6) across Nepal because of the possibility of heavy rainfall in many parts of the country.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, there is a high chance of continuous rainfall, floods, and landslides in several areas. All government offices and public institutions will remain closed during these two days except for essential services related to rescue, security, and disaster management.
The ministry has also requested people to avoid unnecessary travel and stay in safe places during the heavy rain period.
