Upendra Devkota Memorial National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences

In Bansbari, Kathmandu, there is a private teaching hospital and specialised neuroscience institute called Upendra Devkota Memorial National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences (UDM-NINAS). Prof. Dr. Upendra Devkota founded it in 2006 AD, making it the first neuroscience-focused institute in Nepal. The institute combines clinical services with medical education and research to offer specialised care for conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system.

For its medical education programs, UDM-NINAS is associated with Kathmandu University (KU). While its clinical services encompass neurosurgery, neurology, stroke treatment, spinal diseases, neuro-radiology, and other related specialities, its academic activities include postgraduate speciality training, especially in neurosurgery and neurology. Additionally, the institute runs cutting-edge facilities like a bi-plane catheterisation laboratory and a specific stroke service.
