Central Department of Social Work: Tribhuvan University

Within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tribhuvan University, the Central Department of Social Work (CDSW) is a constituent academic department. The department, which is situated on the University Campus in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, focuses on community involvement, field-based learning, research, and social work education. It seeks to train professionals who can support human rights, social justice, community empowerment, and the welfare of marginalised and vulnerable populations.

The department was founded in 2014 and provides advanced social work education by fusing academic coursework with real-world fieldwork. The Master of Social Work (MSW) and MPhil programs leading to PhD-level research are among its main academic offerings. Additionally, the department facilitates professional interaction with communities, development organisations, and other stakeholders as well as social work research.
