Tribhuvan University's (TU) Central Department of Biotechnology (CDBT) is an academic division of the Institute of Science and Technology (IoST). The department was founded in 2008 with the goal of creating highly qualified human resources and advancing cutting-edge biotechnology and life sciences research. It is situated on the TU campus in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. It focuses on using biotechnology in fields including industrial production, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, medicine, environmental management, and bioinformatics.
The department offers postgraduate and research-based education that integrates scientific research, laboratory activity, and theoretical instruction. MSc in Biotechnology, PhD in Biotechnology, and Postdoctoral Research in Biotechnology are among its academic programs.
